Why our pools last longer.
Most homeowners never see what goes into the ground before the tile and plaster. Here's what makes a pool last 40 years — and what most builders won't tell you.
Rebar Every 8 Inches
Industry standard is 12" spacing. We tighten to 8" — more steel, more structural life. Your pool shell is a reinforced-concrete engineering project, not a spray job.
Deck Dowels
Dowels physically tie the concrete deck into the bond beam of the pool shell. When Texas soil moves (and it does), the deck and pool move together — instead of pulling apart and cracking.
Schedule 80 Plumbing Fittings
At every fitting where pressure and vibration are highest, we use Schedule 80 — thicker walls, higher pressure rating. They don't crack when the ground shifts.
Proper Gunite Thickness & Cure
The shell has to be structurally thick, applied correctly, and cured properly. Rushed gunite is the #1 reason older pools fail. We don't skip the cure.
Full Plumbing Pressure Test
Before gunite goes on, every line is capped and pressure-tested. If a fitting is going to leak, we find it now — not after your deck is poured.
Premium Equipment
Variable-speed pumps, cartridge filters, and salt or ozone systems that cut power bills and last twice as long as builder-grade equipment.
Correct Construction Sequence
Excavation, steel, plumbing test, gunite, cure, tile & coping, deck, plaster, fill. Skipping or overlapping stages is how pools crack. We follow the sequence.
Owner-Inspected Phases
Every phase gets a walk-through by Vance before it's signed off. No foreman handing off to another foreman. The owner sees what goes into the ground.
